Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa MkII (シンカリオン E5 はやぶさ MkII) is the upgraded version of Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa. It first appears in its Shinkansen Mode in Episode 61 and first debuts in Episode 64.

Description[]

The E5 MkII was built by former SUEI founder Isaburo Yatsushiro based on the data of other Shinkalions stolen from the institute by Yakumo Kurashiki, as well as the design presented by Kirin. The unit was then stored underground in the Black Shinkalion's former storage bay, and would only see usage when a number of SUEI personnel, including his former colleagues Shinpei Izumi and Hokuto Hayasugi, went to talk to him regarding Shashot's data loss. Following this, Yatsushiro gave the E5 MkII to Hayato Hayasugi, Hokuto's son the SUEI's first underage driver, where it proved instrumental in the final battle against Kairen. The E5 MkII would later become Hayato's primary Shinkalion unit, and remained in use until Valdor's defeat in the battle against the Valhallan. After Hayato quitted as its driver and departed for studying abroad, its current status remains unknown.

Weapons and abilities[]

The E5 MkII has access to a large katana known as Turnstile Blade, which, similar to the original E5's Turnstile Sword, can generate an energy barrier to trap enemies in, but only when it is sheathed in a special scabbard known as the Blade Case. The E5 MkII also has a special deathblow known as Dual Gran Cross, which is similar to E5's Gran Cross, but is fired from twin barrels instead of one.

The E5 MkII is also faster and stronger than the original, being able to cause physical damage on Kairen while the others barely scratched him. Unlike the original, the E5 MkII can operate without Shashot if required. The E5 MkII also has an new combination function known as "Over Cross Combination", which works with any standard type Shinkalions.

To make up for the lack of wings used on the original E5, the E5 MkII is instead equipped with a set of back-mounted tail thrusters formed by the rear end portion of its front car.

Appearance[]

Shinkansen Mode[]

The exterior design of the E5 is broadly based on the experimental Fastech 360S train, with a color scheme of "Tokiwa" (常盤) green for the upper body and "Hiun" (飛雲) white for the lower body, separated by a "Hayate" pink stripe.

Shinkalion mode[]

The E5, when transformed, becomes a humanoid mech, which still keeps its chest the same as the nose of its Shinkansen Mode. Unlike the original, the E5 MkII is a 3 car formation and thus is taller than any standard type Shinkalions and has a sturdier profile. It also has more tints of gold throughout its body. The head design is similar to the original, but with three golden crests instead of a single white one, and has red eye sockets around its eyes instead of black.
