Shinkalion Z E5 Hayabusa (シンカリオンZ E5 はやぶさ) is the new flagship Shinkalion of the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute during the time Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z takes place, driven by Shin Arata.
Description[]
The Z E5 was developed by the SUEI's mechanic and one of the co-founders of its Yokokawa Branch, Tokonami Usui, as a refitting upgrade to the original E5, which fell unused over the course of the long period of peace since the end of the conflict with the Kitoralsus. After Tokonami left for his homeworld, the refitting process was carried on by his colleagues with the help of his son Abuto. Abuto was then assigned to drive the Z E5 himself once it was completed, though to his dismay he was unable to accomplish the feat due to his low compatible ratings. As a result, the Z E5 was put on standby until a compatible individual, Shin Arata, happened upon the facility during the start of the Teoti invasion and became its driver by chance. The Z E5 was later transferred back to Ōmiya, where its original self used to affiliate to, to better respond to Teoti attacks, and remains a key asset in the battles to come.
Weapons and Abilities[]
The Z E5 is a balanced fighter, and specializes in close-range combat. Due to the thrusters built in its leg side shells and back and the traction claws in its feet, the Z E5 is an agile runner, and the Ex-Station Caliburs allow for quick and precise strikes that deal a crippling blow to most Giant Monstrous Beings.
Due to Shin's continually growing competency as a driver, the Z E5 has been able to hold it's own in a solo match against much stronger opponents, being able to battle the Dark Shinkalion Devil Mode to a near-standstill even when not Z Combined.

Shinkansen Mode[]
The exterior design of the Z E5 is broadly based on the Shinkansen E5 Series train, with a colour scheme of "Tokiwa" (常盤) green for the upper body and "Hiun" (飛雲) white for the lower body, separated by a "Hayate" pink stripe.
Shinkalion mode[]
The Z E5, when transformed, becomes a humanoid mech, which still keeps its chest the same as the nose of its shinkansen mode. As a direct upgrade from the original Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa, it bares a striking resemblance to its pre-refitted counterpart, but with a number of structural differences. The most drastic differences are the lack of shoulder-mounted wings and the forehead crest sporting four points instead of two.
Trivia[]
- It is the third Shinkalion unit based off the E5 Series Shinkansen, the first and second being Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa and Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa MkII.
- Despite being equipped with the Ultra Evolution Energy Cannon, an equivalent to the Gran Cross cannon barrels on its predecessor E5-based units, the Z E5 is not capable of firing a Gran Cross attack on its own, and only has access to the Z Gran Cross when combined.
