Shinkalion E7 Kagayaki (シンカリオン E7かがやき) is the third Shinkalion of the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute, piloted by Tsuranuki Daimonyama replacing one of the adult drivers. It first appears in Episode 01.

Description[]

During the first of the Giant Monstrous Being outbreaks, the E7 was piloted by an adult driver, and was one of the primary Shinkalion units utilized, as the E5 was unable to be used by the adult drivers. After the E5 went into usage being driven by Hayato Hayasugi at the controls, the E7 was the second Shinkalion to have its driver located by the simulator app, with the resulting candidate, Tsuranuki Daimonyama, taking his place as the E7's driver, though it took some prodding for him to accept the role. The E7 would be used until the battle against the Valhallan, the aftermath of saw it permanently retired.

Weapons and abilities[]

The E7 has access to the Wheel Drill, a large conical handheld drill that pierces essentially all but the hardest of metals and can generate a larger energy construct of itself for greater damage. The E7 is equipped with shovels over its knuckles for strong punches, while crawlers in its feet allow it to speed towards the opponent in powerful charge attacks. The E7 was built primarily with power in mind, and as such it is one of the stronger units at SUEI's disposal.

Appearance[]

Shinkansen Mode[]

The exterior design of the E7 is broadly based on the Shinkansen E7 Series train. Externally, the roof is finished in a "sky blue" color, and the bodysides are "ivory white" with "copper" and "sky blue" lining. The bodyside logos consist of a number "7" in silver stylized as an arrowhead, and include the lettering "East Japan Railway Company".

Shinkalion mode[]

The E7, when transformed, becomes a humanoid mech, which keeps the front nose of its Shinkansen Mode as its chest. In addition to shovels over the knuckles and crawlers in its feet, the E7 is mainly blue and white with copper-colored panels and hydraulic cylinders. On its forehead there are details mimicking the linings and headlights on the train nose, and on its head is a crest shaped like the E7 Series logo with glowing blue edges and copper markings stylized as the letters “E7”.

Trivia[]

Background[]

  • The E7 has the letters "F1" marked on the top left corner of its windshield, making it one of the only Shinkalion units to bare realistic trainset numbers, alongside the 700 Nozomi (B5) and 800 (U007).
    • In real life, the E7 Series trainset with the same designated number was scrapped in March 2020 following its prior irreparable damage in October the previous year due to floodwater.

Notes[]

  • As the Wheel Drill didn't manifest until Tsuranuki's compatible rate increased in Episode 06, the E7 did not wield any weapons during the transformation sequence in its first few appearances, until the drill was added to the sequence in the following episode.
  • Unlike most of the other Shinkalions, the shells on the side of the E7's legs are connected to the body at the knee rather than the calf.
